1995

At the 50 years since the end of WWII celebrations, Kim and Alby, (Martin and Lucy) meet John and Aileen McCourt.
(Despite being in their later 60's this couple were doing air steps) and dancing Jitterbug as taught to them by GI's during WWII.

Kim, Alby, Martin, Lucy, Wayne, Kate, Kylee, Arlene and Carolin start lessons with John and Ailene doing Jitterbug, Blackbottom and Shag

Arlene visited 100 club in London and had flyer for Frankie tapes available from Simon Selmon.
Copy of Frankies videos is obtained to allow preparation for up comming Workshop in Sydney (Janurary 1996)


1996

Australia Day Weekend

Johnathan and Sylvia instruct first internationally workshop at Paramatta (PCYC ?)
Friday was West coast swing, Saturday and Sunday "Dean Collins" (smooth) Lindy, St Louis Shag, and Balboa
Sing and friends attended.

(March 1996 a Sydney workshop by Rob Bloom and Nicki, my first local lindy tape - above workshop tape was a ong time coming)

April 27th and May 4th
2 Saturday workshops organised by Kim Alby and Wayne
instructed by Jon Wentz (who eventually marries a girl he met in that first class and now lives in Brisbane) and Mary Travis (from a visiting Jazz and tap troupe) of Seattle (re-)introduce "Frankie" Lindy to Brisbane. John and Mary had met Simon Selmon during Wild Week at the end 1995 and shared accomodation and that is how they found out about our group in Brisbane.

Swing Tuit (Dance society) Brisbane is born that week (very wet week no sun for 13 days).
Weekly Practice/Review sessions eventually become lessons.
We watch the tapes of Catalaina 1995 avidly.

Martin and Lucy attend Swing Camp Catalina with John and Mary.
Martin and Lucy take on the senior teaching roles while Kim, Alby, John, Kate, Wayne, Natalie, and Greame teach the fundamental class and some feature classes.
